i’ve always been a bigger fan of the Beach Boys earlier pre-Pet Sounds stuff (songs about surfing, driving in cars to go surf, girls that surf, girls who like guys that surf) mostly because the post Brian Wilson losing his fucking mind records are spotty. some of them are really great though, and one of the best is Wild Honey…which sounds like the Beach Boys attempt at white soul. at the very least it reminds me of ELO. it’s by far the funkiest Beach Boys record and it also features “Darlin” a song you will hear at every wedding you ever go to in your life.
