among most of my friends who are Replacements fans, this is their least favorite of the bands’ albums. too polished. trying too hard to copy what R.E.M. were doing. too bland. sounds like the fucking Goo Goo Dolls. blah blah blah blah blah….but i personally kinda love Don’t Tell Soul. i mean it hardly stacks up against their early work, but as far as your run of the mill late 80s college rock records go it’s still got songs written by Paul Westerberg on it…and that’s good enough for me.
