The Olivia Tremor Control “Love Athena”
it’s a very sad day in Athens, GA with news that Olivia Tremor Control/Elephant Six founding member Bill Doss has died. Bill was a really nice guy. i was lucky to have met him when he recorded my band The Agenda’s first ever 7 inch in his basement studio back in 2002. he was a funny and charming dude who wrote really great pop songs and is one of the most important musicians in Athens proud musical history. RIP, Bill.

tonight is the record release for my favorite Athens band, Vincas. they play a psychobilly garage boogie blend of punk with obvious influences like Suicide, The Scientists, The Gun Club, Scratch Acid, The Damned, Monorchid….basically all the art damaged rock n roll that i love more than anything. if you like sleazy noisy dirty rock music then i recommend going to their bandcamp and listening to/ordering Blood Bleeds.
if you are in Athens, GA then you need to bring your ass down to the Caledonia tonight for Vincas and their power pop Atlanta brothers, Gentlemen Jesse & His Men. it’ll be a night of rock n roll goodness.

one of my favorite newer bands, Bambara, formerly of Athens and now calling NYC home. they come from the louder is always better school of rock. heavily shoegaze influenced with a healthy dose of the Pixies thrown in for good measure. download their cover of Kate Bush’s classic.
