Australian blues/noise rockers The Drones 2005 album Wait Long By The River And The Bodies Of Your Enemies Will Float By is one of the great rock n roll albums of the 2000s that almost noone i know listens to. owing a pretty heavy debt to 3 of the greatest post-punk bands of the 1980s: The Gun Club, The Scientists, and Mutiny era Birthday Party (with a little bit of The Bad Seeds thrown in as well); The Drones create a soundtrack for some imagined apocalyptic suicidal punk western ghost story that only an Australian band could really pull off. it’s an album that is fucking dirty and fucking creepy and fucking noisey and fucking sad and fucking exciting and fucking awesome and if you don’t fucking own it you fucking should.
