  9. Chelsea Light Moving “Communist Eyes” (Germs cover)

  10. listening to.
Sonic Youth is dead…or on forever hiatus…or who fucking knows? regardless you gotta move on and so Thurston Moore is doing just that having released his first album by his new group Chelsea Light Moving. he’s ditched the folky acoustic shit of his last few solo records and seems to have rediscovered the joy of punk and no wave and guitar riffage. one of the highlights is “Alighted”, which sounds like a 7 minute tribute to Nirvana’s Bleach. there’s also a cover of The Germs “Communist Eyes”. the record has a few mellow moments as well but mostly this is far noisier, rocking, arty, and abrasive than anything Sonic Youth has done in years and for that alone it’s worth a listen.
